Membrane Keyboards are keyboards in which the keys are not separated from each other, but are made on a single flat surface. Their appearance is coincident with the need to have an application range greater than that offered by traditional mechanical keyboards.

The operation is based on electrical contact between the keyboard surface and the underlying circuits when pressed in certain areas (keys).
The membrane keyboard works very simply, thanks to the presence of a flexible sheet where under each button there are contacts that are close to each other and are found to be discovered.

At the top, there is a very flexible rubber dome that has a conductive disk in the center. This is lowered by the effect of the pressure exerted when a keyboard key is pressed. This action closes the key of the keypad itself.

They can be connected directly to electronic equipment by a Flat Flex Connector, and consist of several layers of polyester and adhesive.

The traditional mechanical keyboard offers greater feedback and does not need a full stroke because the input is recorded at half-stroke. The two keyboard types also differ in relation to the respective drive force, which allows you to determine how many grams are enough to press a key.
